You can use this calculator to determine what rating you need to be awarded a certain number of points. Just enter the number of points you want to receive into the calculator and it will show you the arena rating you need for any of the arena team sizes.
World of Warcraft Arena System
When Blizzard released the first expansion to World of Warcraft called The Burning Crusade they also introduced the arena pvp combat system. The arena allows level 70 players to group together in teams of 2, 3 or 5 and combat each other. The arena system uses a rating system similar to the ELO rating system to calculate ratings for each team based on their matches against other teams each week. At the end of each week Blizzard has devised a complicated formula that takes your teams rating into account and calculates a number of arena points that you will receive as a reward for participating in arena combat. The formula used is this Team Rating Arena Point Formula X = Team Rating, Y = Arena Points If X< =1500: Y = 0.22*X + 14 (note: this calculation can go negative, but will be floored at 0) If X>1500: Y = 1511.26/(1 + 1639.28 * e^(-0.00412*X)) 2v2 teams earn 76% of the points of a 5v5 team with the same rating 3v3 teams earn 88% of the points of a 5v5 team with the same rating This is a very complicated formula, however, and so arose the need for this calculator. This calculator will calculate the amount of points you’ll receive and you don’t have to do any math at all! Blizzard also changed the formula for arena points in the 2.2 patch and this arena calculator has been updated for the new 2.2 formula.
