Paladin Class Info
Paladins are a very important class in both PvE and PvP especially since they are not available for both factions. In PvE the paladin will many times function as the main healer and can quite easily out heal other healers with good gear and the right spec since they have some of the most mana efficient and low threat heals in the game, they also provide very important buffs in the form of blessings for all players in the group. Paladins are also extremely valuable in PvP where they provide amazing healing power with supreme survivability through the use of their “Paladin Bubble.” Paladins are very sought after in arena teams and are generally considered the best healing class for PvP.
Paladin Specs Guide
Protection spec allows Paladins to tank almost as well or better than most other tanks. With the right items a Paladin can serve as a main tank and are the best multi mob tanks through the use of their reflection and area of effect abilities. Important talents for tanking include Improved Devotion Aura, Redoubt, Sheild Specialization, Blessing of Sanctuary and Toughness.
Holy spec is the healing spec for Paladins. Paladins with Holy spec can serve as some of the best healers in World of Warcraft through the use of mana efficient heals and low threat heals. They can also wear any armor from cloth to plate which provides them with lots of choices for gear (if healing in PvP one probably wants to avoid wearing cloth where this may be ok in PvE). This is currently the most popular spec for Paladins and can perform well in both arena combat and PvE groups and raids.
Retribution spec is the damage dealing spec for Paladins. Previously paladin damage with retribution was very bad and this spec was terrible but recently is has received a lot of buffs and is now a viable spec. Retribution speced Paladins can DPS fairly well (not quite as well as pure DPS classes usually) and are also quite survivable because of all of the healing and protection abilities Paladins naturally have. This build can be effective in arena if your team needs more DPS or if you already have another Paladin healer. Also this build is one of the favorites when leveling up a Paladin.
